یک مرد مالزیایی پس از فوت پدرش متوجه شد، خط تلفن‌همراه وی بیش از 218 تریلیون دلار بدهی دارد. این مرد اقرار کرد که پیش از این نیز تلفن‌همراه پدرش به دلیل بدهی 23 دلاری قطع شده بود. کمپانی تلفن‌همراه مالزی با دادن فرصت 10روزه به این مرد، خواستار پرداخت این بدهی شده است و در غیر این صورت از راه قانونی اقدام خواهد کرد. این مرد مالزیایی با اعلام اینکه توان مالی چنین مبلغی را ندارد، گفت که آماده حضور در دادگاه برای مذاکره با اپراتور مالزیایی Telekom Malaysia است. گفته می‌شود هنوز هیچ کس از طرف شرکت Telekom Malaysia به طور قطعی اعلام نکرده است که این صورت‌حساب صحیح است یا مشکلی در سیستم‌ محاسبات هزینه این شرکت به وجود آمده است. گفته‌می‌شود پس از مرگ این مرد، از خط تلفن‌همراه وی به صورت غیرقانونی استفاده شده است. شرکت Telekom Malaysia اعلام کرده ‌است که از این خط تلفن‌ برای مکالمه با کشور امریکا و اتصال به اپراتور Verizon به مبلغ 117 دلار استفاده شده است. همچنین کنفرانس ویدئویی با شهر مونترئال کانادا از طریق این سیم‌کارت برقرار شده است.
